Anybody else having an issue becoming a seller? |
| Every time I try to become a seller, my browser - Safari, Google Chrome, and Firefox - takes me to a Error 404 page. Tells me the link is bad...scary...stay away. And yet, I see so many who have posted their work to the marketplace. How did you get around this error code? If you didn't receive this error code, well, why didn't you receive the error code? Is it because I'm not using IE? Well, I can't. I'm on a Mac. HELP! | ||

Do you have a good heart? |
| There's one of our own, whose Artneighbor name is Esmeralda ( Monika Lemeshonok), who would like to connect with more of us on Artneighbor. She's from Belarus. Not only is she isolated, but seeking artistic validation. I feel stongly about this! I think most of us have passion, compassion and empathy when one of our own is distressed so I bring this artist to your attention. I'm asking those artist's who have a heart and empathy for the struggle of other artist's, especially for those to whom ART is everything. Many of us might take for granted our bit of talent, while to others who are isolated and blindly seeking a path of hope it may be their whole source of identity. This girl was accepted into a NY gallery that was going to charge her $15,000.00 to cover advertising her. Fortunately she didn't sign the contract. It's easy enough to fall victim to unscrupulous galleries in your own country, let alobne one from another with little grasp of the language. I would appreciate it, DEEPLY, if, as many of you, with a heart, would reach out to Esmeralda as both colleagues and friends to help support her artistic efforts and most importantly give of your friendship Sincerely, Wm. What do you consider your best innate creative asset? |
| I find that while painting, I find I most often find myself asking: "What if..." i.e. " What if I try this? What if I do that?" I think my best asset in being creative is curiosity. An innate need to experiment; try something different;learn more. While I may have other driving attributes, such as fear of failure; I think curiosity plays the most important role in helping me improve the quality of my work. As they say: "Talent is not enough." I'm interested in knowing what others consider to be their best innate creative asset. What's yours? | ||

What is "Regluar" art? |
| I know this makes me sound a bit like "Simon Cowell", although I assure you our stated incomes leave me at a disadvantage. My tone here is not mean; I was just struck by the oddity of differentiating abstract art from regular art. There's "shlep" work and there's art, no matter the genre, but implying that anything other than abstract art is regular, seems a bit askew and somewhat demeaning to poor Van Gogh, Michelangelo, my friends, Gadi and Andres, myself and 100% of non-abstract artists. So, what is "regular" art, other than the crap Bernie Madoff collected? Renoir said a work of art is "inimitable". So I say, no matter the genre, a work is either crap or it's worthy of being called a work of art- according to Renoir's definition. What say you? | ||

Laminating items to wood |
| The other day while out walking my dog during one of his many stops I happened to look down and for the first time ever (in my entire life) I found a Four-Leaf Clover. I am thinking about laminating it to and old barn board so as to preserve and display it. What is the best way to do this, or rather what type of laminate should I use? | ||

Does fine art have a mission today? |
| In my view, the task of today’s fine art is to take in and integrate today’s world with all of its elements. That cell phones, advertisements, satellite internet and many other things are part of today’s world is a well-known and accomplished fact. There is no point in protesting against it, turning it into a manifesto or “calling it into one’s attention” – we have known it for a long time. Today, at the beginning of the 21st century this is our life, not less than man of old times had his own surrounding life that was than captured as natural. This, today’s world must be communicated not with the art of protest but with the tools of art in harmony with life to man in a quality and level that was done by the classical masters of fine art in their time. If not with the same tools, but not less immortal must be given about today’s life. What is your take on it? | ||

Can you delete photos from your gallery? |
| Is there a way to delete photos from a gallery? I accidentally uploaded the wrong photo, a blurry version that I still had on my hard drive. Hard to tell which one I was uploading when looking at the thumbnail. :P | ||

Handmade in America in NYC |
| I had a handmade pottery company called The Artful Dodger from 1995-2002. I sold my work at the George Little Management "Handmade in America " Show wholesale to galleries all over the US from 1997-1998. I quit doing that show and reallyfelt the impact of portugal china, imported pottery, selling for so cheap. Does anyone here do wholesale or high end retail shows and what are the best that you have found for the Art market? | ||
